Introduction to Firearms/ Firearm Safety

This will provide the student with the understanding of Firearm Safety and the functions of Non-Restricted & Restricted Firearms. It is of vital importance that the student have the educational guidelines in how Firearms work, safe handling of a Firearm, and care/maintenance of a Firearm. This introduction will provide safe Firearms handling with small caliber weapons such as the .22 bolt action/semi-automatic rifle and the .22 semi-automatic handgun. Working with small caliber firearms will help the student feel more comfortable, rather than using large caliber weapons.

Content includes:

  • Respecting the use of Firearms
  • Learning the rules of the gun range
  • Loading and un-loading Firearms safely
  • Shooting positions (standing, kneeling, and prone)
  • Transporting Firearms to and from the gun range (Non-Restricted and Restricted)
  • Storage and maintenance

The outline described here will help the new student achieve responsible Firearm ethics and theory for safe gun handling.
